What is the immune system?
The immune system consists of a set of cells and molecules that protect the organism from attacks and invasions by infectious agents such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites.

How can we boost the immune system?

2- Eat a diet of warm foods: according to Chinese medicine, we should consume warm foods during the winter. For this reason, cold soups and plenty of fresh fruit are discouraged. Instead, stews, soups, and the use of spices such as cloves, ginger, pepper, cinnamon, etc.
The most recommended foods for this season are seaweed, black sesame, chestnuts, azuki, lentils, buckwheat, and fish.
3- Drink infusions frequently: infusions can be a great ally to increase the immune system. They also help keep the body warm and prevent it from cooling down.
Echinacea, Cat's Claw, and Licorice are the most recommended plants to increase the immune system. If we also want an antiseptic effect, that is, to combat pathogenic microorganisms, it is recommended adding thyme or sage to the infusions.
On the other hand, if we feel that the cold has entered our body, a good option is to warm up and take a cup of tea or Chai infusion. This is recommended because it contains cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom, and being slightly spicy has an expansive action; that is, it facilitates the opening of the skin's pores and helps eliminate the internal cold.
4- Nourish yourself with superfoods: superfoods have nutrients or active ingredients that help our body to stay healthier.
5- Avoid stress: stress can weaken the immune system and make us more prone to infections. Relaxation techniques and yoga or Pilates are two good ways to start fighting it. However, in certain cases, psychological accompaniment may be necessary to relieve periods of stress.
